The day I fell in love with Tom Ford
I love fashion, loved it for years !
From when I can remember myself, I loved dressing up and looking great, loved to add accessories to match my clothes, loved to read my grandmas’ fashion magazines and dream of wearing the clothes in them.
Fashion has been a part of my life forever, but there was this one moment that made me love it even more, feel it more and understand it better.
That moment will always be in my mind, because every time I hear or read the word “fashion” it pops up, a marvelous association.
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was 13, watching television. We didn’t have FTV back then and I think that was some sort of CNN or Sky News show with all the latest fashion news.
And then it happened, a magical moment, the one that gives you butterflies, like falling in love that kind of tingly feeling. It was a runway show, a few clips of it, but that was enough. Enough to captivate me for life and pledge my allegiance to one genius.
The runway show was of Gucci’s fall collection in 1995. It was something special, not of this earth.
The silhouettes, the fabrics, the atmosphere, the glamour, the entire thing was mesmerizing, breath-taking and completely overwhelming.
I have never seen anything like that before and it captured me off guard.
I heard of Gucci before, never liked their suff , they were so old, and plain, not special and chic like this.
And then he came out and took a bow, the amazing and creative genius that made all of this happen. The man that birthed these amazing pieces of art – Tom Ford.
Since that day, I was addicted to Gucci, didn’t miss one show, actually taped them all ( remember that pre-historic device called VCR…?).
The day Tom left Gucci I was devastated, broken hearted.
How could he do that?!
How could he deprive us of his creations?
What would Gucci be without him?
Well, we all know Gucci eventually survived and Frida is doing a pretty good job, She’s no Tom though.
Tom since, has launched his own line and even directed a movie ( A Single Man – with Colin Firth).
He is still my all time fashion sweetheart and all my love to fashion and the fascination and understanding of the feminine figure is because of him.
That was the most memorable fashion moment of my life.

Wonderful post! Tom Ford is amazing.
