HOW TO STYLE A SPRING FRONT PORCH

Getting your porch ready for Spring and Summer is exciting but can also be overwhelming! With so many options, how to put things together to create a curated, purposeful look can be challenging! I have outlined here some of my favorite Spring decor selections out right now and some inspiration images of my favorite ways to style your home for this season!

HEIGHT AND SHAPE VARIATION

Image one shows height and shape variation of plants in a grouping of three. I always recommend tall heights paired with medium and shorter heights to create interest and variation. This rule goes for the actual plants and planters. Mixing a combination of taller plants in larger containers with shorter, fuller plants in medium planters creates a family of happy plants that can all be seen and featured!

MIRRORED PLANTERS

I of course love mixing different shapes and colors and finishes of planters BUT I also love the look of matching colors or finishes grouped together as you see in Image two and three. If you are going for a more symmetrical, cohesive look this is the way to go! Then you can pop in either mirroring plants on both sides, or start with larger mirroring plants (Image two) and then mix it up for the planters that go along.

MIXED PLANT PLANTER

I love a mixed plant planter! Image one shows one of my favorite ways to try different plants, mix different colors and textures and create a super interesting look in one place! The other great thing about doing a mixed plant planter, if one in the group isn’t doing well it is easy to remove and you still have a great look! Tip here would be to make sure that all of the plants in this kind of grouping have the same or very similar lighting and watering needs.

STAIR STEP GROUPINGS

Stair stepping containers is a look that I use on my front porch every year! Sometimes I go for a symmetrical look with planters like in Image two but sometimes I think it’s also fun to stair step mixed planters as well. The trick with this look is to mix up the size of the planters to get the curated look.

FILLED CONTAINERS

Image three shows a container on the coffee table that may or may not be intended for outdoor use. I am the queen of taking a container from my home and either putting plants in it or placing moss balls, pine cones, or some other natural element in it. The tip here is to make sure there is proper drainage, especially if it is not made for outdoor use. You can also spray a outdoor protectant spray on an object if you are worried about wear and tear.

What are your favorite ways to get your home ready for Spring and Summer? I do think that the front porch is one of the best, fastest, and easiest ways to elevate the home to the new season! It is super satisfying to get that front entrance greeting guests for the season. Take a look at some of my other favorites for the home here and here! Until next time lovers!
