Not a Summer Mom

If you know me you know that I love fall and winter. I love the cooler temps, the smell of the air, the coziness of these seasons. Every year around the month of February I start to get into a bit of a panic about the upcoming spring and summer months. I don’t love the heat, the sweat, the bugs, the allergies…it’s a whole thing to the point that in my social circles I am a self proclaimed “Not a Summer Mom”. I have had so many in depth conversations with my friends about this, they are mostly all lovers of the warmer months so these sentiments are tough for them to grasp. My coping mechanism for dealing with my least favorite season is to dive into my favorite thing about them. The fashion and colors that come out during spring and summer keep me going. In this article I am outlining my favorite Spring 2024 fashion trends that are going to keep me excited about the upcoming sweat sesh. Also, these are all totally looks that can work for almost any age!!!

Sharp black and power suits

Sometimes when I look at my closet from afar all I see is the big clump of the color black. I love black anything and so obviously this is one of my favorite looks for spring! I also love the thought of power suits…even if you don’t have an office setting or business meeting, rocking this look just at a lunch with friends or dinner feels so good! I love the simplicity and casual feeling of this dress from Target. It would be super cute with boots or sneakers and a jacket for cooler nights! Obsessed with this smocked dress from Anthropologie, would be great as a cover up but also great with some wedges for a dinner out! I do not own these crepe pants from Abercrombie but they have great reviews and are totally on my wish list! Paired with an asymmetrical top like this one from Zara would be clean and sophisticated but still approachable.

Embroidered lace and tulle

I personally love lace anything so of course this look of lace and tulle textures definitely sparked my attention! I love this boucle dress from H&M, reminds me a bit of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and I am so here for it! Would be adorable with simple slides or flats! Also love this collared shirt from Zara. The tiny black lace trim detail is so good! The sleeveless V-Neck maxi dress is so classic and beautiful. This dress reminds me of an English tea party, I may need to find one to go to so that I can get this lady! I am a sucker for a good kaftan and this one really stood out to me. Kaftans are my favorite way to channel my inner Patricia Altschul, shoutout Southern Charm fans. The Floral eyelet is so well done and it would elevate a vacation look in a hot second, no pun intended.

Roses, ribbons and ruffles

Roses, ribbons and ruffles are truly some of my favorite things. I feel very seen in this look. The details on this Zara cardigan are stunning. The tulle flowers with pearl details feel like something way more expensive than this price point. The floral button down shirt also from Zara is priced really well and the option to pair with denim for a casual look or with a dressier skirt or pant makes this piece a big player in your Spring wardrobe. This romper featured with the bow is a wedding or date night winner! The chunky heel and ruffles of these adorable sandals would be great paired with almost any spring dress or also great with denim or dress pants as well! Also available in ivory and denim these sandals would be a great investment for this season for sure!

Metallics and sequins

The metallics and sequins look brings me back to my clubbing days in the early 2000’s and I love it. I love that we can pair a fun slingback like these and are automatically brought to a place of glitz and glamour without being over the top! Dying over the color of this Zara pleated skirt and the price tag is also amazing which is a plus! This sequined top from H&M would be great paired with a fun skirt or even a pair of black trousers. This rhinestone shoulder bag is unfortunately currently sold out but here is a fun alternative from Amazon.

Preppy and athletic

Preppy and atheltic is my safe go to. Running around town or even shopping on a girl’s trip I love throwing on a dress like this one from Anthropologie with some cute sandals or even with some fun sneakers like these! I love the Kelly green details, these shoes are on my list for the warmer months for sure! This adorable polo shirt brings me back to my middle school days. This top would be great with almost anything and with the raised flower button detail, this is yet another well priced staple from Zara. I love wearing a comfy sweater like this one with shorts when it is warm outside but also in that transition time where the afternoons and evenings are still cool.

Kitten heels and slingbacks

I personally do not do super high heels, bless those who can! So, with that in mind, kitten heels and slingbacks with a lower heel are my jam! These slingbacks from Zara have a nude mesh front that would make this super wearable with almost anything! I also love the buckle detail of the these pointy mules. Red is still a major “it” color for spring and summer 2024 so these red slingbacks are a must have for that pop of color added to elevate any outfit. A flat slingback is also always a good staple, these slingback ballet flats from Target are super versatile and comfortable! For another fun pop of color for the season I love these Draper James slingbacks available at Kohls. They are currently on clearance so grab them if you need some pink plaid in your life!
